Online Casino Comes out with Promotion
It seems that for some online cainos, there is nothing that they will not do for the sake of getting their names in the papers. And for many online casino players, no casino has a name more synonymous with tasteless pranks than the RTG-powered and Costa Rican based Virtual group. However, as they say, any publicity is good publicity, as their last prank goes to show.
This past week Virtual Group reached a new all time low and was the center of internet controversy. The reason for the uproar was an ill-advised and totally insensitive attempt to launch a promotion based on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the USA, where thousands of innocent victims died. The promotion was sent to players via an e-mail from “Danny Virtual,” the csino mascot. The email contained a few emotional words about the international tragedy and an explanation of the casino’s 911% Towering Total Bonus.
Stunned players and industry observers were universal in condemning the attempt to exploit a human tragedy that is still a source of deep sadness and outrage. Despite constant player complaints and reports of questionable behavior, this group continues to apparently flourish, suggesting that many players do not research before handing their cash over.
RealTime Gaming CEO Mike McMain, contacted on the issue said he would "look into it," but Danny Virtual himself was unrepentant, claiming that this was his company's way of 'reminding' people about the tragedy.
